Satellite Weather 08/18/2019

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Surface to mid level east to west oriented high pressure ridge axis has shifted slightly to the north and is now lying across the south central peninsula. In turn the deepest moisture has also shifted northward with drier air now over the southern half of the peninsula. This will lower the overall coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the southern half. A majority of the activity will be north of the I-4 corridor where again the deepest moisture now exists. Steering level winds will continue to direct this activity towards the northeast.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Once again ongoing numerous showers and thunderstorms over the west coast. Areas currently void of clouds will have the highest potential for new development of showers and thunderstorms as daytime heating occurs and the sea breezes develop by late morning and early afternoon. Strengthening steering levels wind will continue to push activity the northeast . Upper level winds will continue to push thunderstorm anvil clouds towards the south and southwest.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Deep moisture stretching across the Gulf of Mexico and Florida with a surface to mid level southwest to northeast wind field. Once again ongoing numerous showers and thunderstorms over the west coast with additional activity forming as daytime heating occurs and the sea breezes develop by late morning and early afternoon. All activity will travel towards the northeast. Upper level winds will continue to push thunderstorm anvil clouds towards the south and southwest.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms will form as daytime heating occurs and the sea breezes develop by late morning and early afternoon. All activity will travel towards the northeast. Upper level winds will continue to push thunderstorm anvil clouds towards the south and southwest.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Deep moisture across the central peninsula with a surface to steering level weak west to east wind field. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along the sea breezes by late morning and early afternoon. Weak west to east steering level winds will allow a majority of the activity to move towards the east coast throughout the day with activity increasing along the east coast sea breeze once it develops.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Weak surface wind field will allow for coastal sea breezes to develop and move inland. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along the sea breezes by late morning and early afternoon. Weak and variable steering level winds will allow a majority of the activity to remain along the sea breezes over interior sections of the peninsula. Thunderstorm anvil clouds via the upper level winds will continue to travel towards the southwest.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Sufficient deep moisture, daytime heating, and the west coast sea breeze will develop showers and thunderstorms by late morning and early afternoon. Steering level winds will continue to push activity towards the east. If an east coast sea breeze is able to develop it will enhance thunderstorm coverage over the east coast zones by late afternoon.

GOES EAST GeoColor satellite imagery over Florida. Similar scenario as deep tropical moisture and daytime heating will lead to scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Steering level winds will continue to push all activity towards the east. Majority of the activity by late afternoon will along the east coast where sea breeze and outflow boundary collisions occur.
